The Gettys Group Reveals Rand Tower Hotel

Chicago-based design firm The Gettys Group has completed its design of the Rand Tower Hotel in Minneapolis. The Marriott Tribute Portfolio property takes its name from Rufus R. Rand Jr., the World War I aviator that the 26-story high rise was initially built for in 1928. Over the course of three years, the building was revitalized to accentuated its original Art Deco details and celebrate its landmark heritage.

The hotel now features an interior color palette inspired by the sky—paying homage to the structure’s roots in science and aviation. Terrazzo floors in the lobby, intricate enameling, a hallmark staircase, and other restored architectural details—including elevator finishes and a full exterior update—are juxtaposed by a range of newly added, modern elements.

Rand Tower Hotel features classic-yet-contemporary F&B option Whiskey & Soda, and will inaugurate an upscale rooftop bar and lounge, Rand Tower Club, equipped with a grand retractable shelter spring 2021. Ranging from studio kings to one-bedroom suites, each of the hotel’s 270 accommodations are outfitted with expansive windows that infuse abundant natural light and frame vistas of the Twin Cities.
